The 3rd Space™ Vest from TN Games takes gameplay beyond sight and sound, creating spatial awareness of the world your characters inhabit. The 3rd Space™ Vest gives you precise impact of bullet fire or a pounding blow. A built-in system of eight pneumatic microcompressors permits simulated blows of about 30 pounds per square inch, so gamers feel a punch but don’t sustain injury. The technology for this vest was originally developed for medical use to assist with physical examinations conducted remotely via closed-circuit “tele-medicine” TV channels. TN Games is a subsidiary of TouchNetworks Inc., and its founder, Mark Ombrellaro, is a vascular surgeon. He said in an interview last year that the gaming version of the vest was devised in part to help bring attention to his company’s technology.

Goggle jackets are the new hoodies!

Stab proof school uniforms + hoodies

A company called Bladerunners produce a range of protective fashion wear including hoodies and tshirts made from Kevlar, a slash resistant material used in protective gear for the police and security teams. In August a number of inner city schools commissioned the company to adapt school uniforms to be slash resistant in reaction to the number of knife crimes within and beyond the school grounds.

Vexed Generation are a fashion label that were founded in 1994 by Adam Thorpe and Joe Hunter. Their garment designs each address issues of air pollution, urban CCTV surveillance and civil liberties whilst catering for a performance lifestyle. Specifically utilising respiratory protection, and performance fabrics which are waterproof, breathable, fire retardant and knife retardant.
